History

daytripfinderLaunched in 2014 as ‘DayTripFinder’, the site was the idea of digital marketing specialist Dominic Sawyer and was initially run as a side project while he was managing the travel marketing agency  Dot Tourism.

However the site grew quickly on the back of its email newsletters and social content and soon became a full-time concern, with a growing team involved.

As the audience grew and their needs became clearer, the site expanded into holidays and short breaks as well as day trips. In 2016 a name change was needed to reflect the site’s bigger mission to provide a seamless research and booking process for family travellers; FamilyBreakFinder was chosen.

Today

During peak months FamilyBreakFinder now attracts 500,000 visitors per month with its daily deals, travel tips and viral-friendly content. It has proved particularly popular with UK mums, with an 84 per cent female audience split and 81 per cent parent.

FamilyBreakFinder published its first book, the Cheap Family Travel Guide, in April. It launched a dedicated vouchers product in July and partnered with German travel tech firm Holidu to offer a holiday rentals search engine.

The staff team is made up of writers, developers, digital marketers and administrative support.

The site’s business model is a mix of affiliate revenue, lead generation, content sponsorship and advertising. Brands that have worked with FamilyBreakFinder include Lapland UK, Society of London Theatre, Go Ape!, Sealife, City Cruises, National Trust, Cheapflights, Jurys Inn, English Heritage, Holiday Extras, TravelBird and The Sun.
