About this break:
Ever fancied getting behind the controls of a real-life JCB digger? Children – and big children – absolutely love digging up the ground and searching for buried treasure at Diggerland Durham. Have hours of fun shifting soil, or driving a dumper truck, climbing on board a tractor and getting stuck in the mud.
After lunch in the café restaurant, or at one of the lovely outdoor picnic spots, you can take a gentle ride on the Digger Train before you smash it up on the dodgems or have a go on one of the other 18 rides at Diggerland. Be sure not to miss the ‘Spindizzy’ to be sent 50ft up in the air, or if that’s a bit big and scary, go on a gentle carousel ride on the ‘Dig-a-round’.
Just outside beautiful Durham, Diggerland is an incredibly popular attraction that makes the perfect trip for the entire family. With sandpits and play areas, even the tiniest of diggers will be able to pull on the boots and find some fun at Diggerland Durham. With day-long access and unlimited rides for every ticket holder, you can spend all day in the muck before retreating to the comfort of your hotel, wiping off the mud and falling asleep in your hard hat.

Need to buy train tickets to Durham?
At the end of the booking process above, you can choose to add rail travel to your package… otherwise, our top choice for UK train tickets is Virgin Trains – they search the whole rail network, not just Virgin routes. What’s more, they don’t add booking fees or charge you for using your credit card. Also worth a look is Trainline. They buy up seat allocations in bulk, meaning they can sometimes pass on better discounts than rivals.
Need to buy coach or bus tickets to Durham?
If you’re travelling by bus, these days National Express really makes an effort to be family friendly. With booster seats, wifi, air con and power sockets for tablets – as well as bargain prices when compared to train – they’re worth a look. With their £8 Family Coachcard kids go free.
