Ticket to Ride London

Discount - Save £0.53

What It Is:

Welcome to the ’70s world capital of fashion and music.

Jump aboard a famous double-decker bus to rumble through London’s historic streets, breeze past Buckingham Palace, pop into the British Museum or listen to Big Ben’s chime echo across the Thames…

In this fast-paced Ticket to Ride game, players race one another to claim the most important bus lines and complete their Destination Tickets, connecting Districts in the capital of the United Kingdom.

Why We Love It:

This version of Ticket To Ride is very similar to the other versions, if not a little shorter than the original.

It takes no time at all to learn, and because it is a shorter game, it really suits a younger audience, I had to give my 7 year old a little helping hand, but he could spot the routes, decide when to take cards and when to play them, and generally had a very decent attempt at winning.

It’s a really fun version of Ticket to Ride, and I love how you can see plenty of locations that you’ve heard of and probably been to at some point, this for me makes it interesting and inviting.

Overall ,it is a highly engaging game that virtually anyone can learn.  There aren’t many rules, yet there is enough depth to make it a fast paced family game.

Beat That!

What It Is:

Players attempt to successfully complete 160 ridiculous challenges using cups, chopsticks, ping pong balls and dice.

Can you stack up four dice using only chopsticks in 30 seconds? How about gargling a song for your team-mates to guess in Mouthwash Karaoke?

Collect points by betting on your ability to bounce, stack, hop, balance and roll your way to victory in this hilarious game. Bonkers fun!

Why We Love It:

I was so intrigued to open this box and find out what everything did. The instructions were simple to follow so we didn’t have long to wait. The challenges are absolutely brilliant!

Not only did we love trying the challenges themselves but we loved watching and cheering everyone else on as well and of course trying to pick up tips on how to win. Both I and my husband have loved trying the challenges as well as the boys and it has definitely brought out our competitive side.

We have been keeping a running total and I am sad to say that my husband is coming out on top, I am sure he has been practising in secret. We never get bored of playing this awesome game!

What It Is:

There’s fun for all in the Family Edition of the classic board game, Trivial Pursuit. Answer questions on six categories and earn wedges. The first to 6 wedges wins! With questions for kids and adults, you can pit your wits against the whole family.

Trivial pursuit family edition has questions for adults and kids!

Why We Love It:

This is a great game If you’re keen to introduce your children to Trivial Pursuit. This family version really hits the spot. The rules are child friendly, and the questions are age appropriate for the younger audiences.

I found there to be a real mixture of questions, divided in to adult and child questions, that were both general knowledge and up to date with current news and trends. Some of the adult questions were quite taxing, making it a good challenging but ultimately fun board game for all.

This is a modern family friendly twist on a classic game.. and it very much helped us all get through Lockdown!

What It Is:

Pandemic tasks you with nothing less than saving the world; a clutch of diseases threaten to overwhelm civilization as we know it, so the odds are against you from the start.

Why We Love It:

Firstly, I love that this is a collaborative game, working together on the same side to battle the virus. It’s refreshing to play a game that’s different to a player on player game.

Pandemic heavily relies on communication, It’s a compelling chase and has a huge emphasis on teamwork. I would describe it as the the ultimate cooperative game.

I found the game very exciting to play , there is no choice but to pull together as a team to have any chance of winning. The pace of the game can really pick up when you least expect it, making it great for families to play-the perfect after-dinner game, especially as it can be played within an hour. I was instantly hooked.

This deserves to be on every ones shelf!

Who committed the murder in the mansion? Eliminate the suspects and discover whodunit, with what and where.

Correctly guess the murderer to win.

Why We Love It:

The game is a classic! This should most definitely be on everyone’s shelf!

It’s not only fun, but it also makes you think- strategies and tactics and what questions to ask, making it perfect for older children and adults. The new indicator cards are really good, but if you want to play a more classic game you can forgo them.

The instruction book is well written and easy to digest. The pictures on the game board are very impressive with great detail so it is very inviting and nostalgic.

It’s a great mystery and fun game to play together!

Beat the Parents

What It Is:

Beat the Parents is the family showdown game where kids compete against their parents for household supremacy!

There are more than just bragging rights at stake – each team must pick a wager before the game can begin. What are you willing to do if you lose? Wash the dishes? Treat the other side to movie night?

Use the dry erase marker and wager board to put the stakes on display, and then start the competition!

Why We Love It:

This is a great board game to play with your children, it’s fun, family oriented and allows the children to make optimum involvement in the game.

The questions are pitched at the correct level for the children allowing them to score point and stay engaged with the game and the parent questions are a lot more challenging, so you really have to think!

I found there is a good mix of general knowledge questions and hilarious challenges, which makes it a fun interactive game for all ages. Highly recommend.

What It Is:

Bring everyone together with this fast-talking board game. Both loud and interactive, Articulate is ideal for parties. It’s the hilarious team game of quick fire descriptions!

Players try to describe as many card entries as possible to their team mates in 30 seconds. The 1st team round the board wins.

Why We Love It:

Because It’s loud, intense and brilliantly funny. It is absolutely great fun and has kept us thoroughly entertained in lockdown being the centre of many laughs.

I love that you can play it over and over without changing the cards as there are so many options (and everyone describes them very differently!), giving it a huge replay value and well worth the money!

It is a real test of knowledge for both the describers and the guessers and I would say you need a reasonably decent amount of general knowledge to know what/who/where you’re describing to your teammates in order for them to guess is!

  • Reviews: Fantastic Reviews . From 7,262 ratings 82% of parents give it 5 stars. Comments include “Good for the brain” and “hours of fun”.

Mouse Trap

Discount - Save £7.39

What It Is:

Mousetrap is the crazy, zany game of catching rodents, using the wildest contraptions.

The cheeky mice are ready for action and give Carlos the cat the run around. They love cheese so much, they’ll risk being caught but will Carlos wake from his catnap and catch them out?

Why We Love It:

This is a game that has stood the test of time! An absolute classic.

I spent many hours sitting round a table playing this as a child, so it was a must buy for my own children- and I will say, It’s still just as fun.

Great quality pieces, slightly tweaked from the original. This version, you set the board up before you start, and move your piece around the board collecting cheese, hoping not land in the danger zone!

It’s so exciting, especially when you land in the zone , will someone choose you? Whose cheese will you steal? so many thrilling decisions to make, which really creates a fun atmosphere.

Recommended for 6+ but generally speaking I feel a 5 year old would manage just fine. A good all round family fun game.

  • Reviews: Super Reviews . From 4,373 ratings 77% of parents give it 5 stars. Comments include “Entertaining” and “Highly enjoyable”.
  • Age Range: 6+ years
  • Players: 2+
  • Playing Time: 20 mins
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Set Up: Less than 10 minutes
  • Alternative: Guess Who

What It Is:

Count on big laughs when you and your friends get together to find out who’s an artist and who really isn’t! In this quick-draw classic, the guesses can be just as hilarious as the sketches as you use markers to draw your best rendition of the clue on the card.

You have one minute to convey what’s on the card. Is it an animal? A person? An action? Just what is that word you’re drawing?

Two levels of clues make this a great game for kids and adults.

Why We Love It:

I love this game, and always played it with my parents as a child. Pictionary is just the best game for playing with family & friends, It’s fantastic fun & I love that it’s the sort of game where even the brainiest aren’t at an advantage.

This game is centred around family fun, as it contains guessing cards for both adults and children, some tricky, some not so bad.

I like how this modern version comes with whiteboards and pens instead of having to hunt around for paper and pens, so it has a good environmental factor.

The board game itself isn’t to overwhelming or lengthy meaning younger children stay engrossed in the game. This had to make my Top Ten!

What It Is:

Dobble is a speedy observation game where players race to match the identical symbol between cards. Reliant on a sharp eye and quick reflexes, Dobble creates excitement for children and adults alike while keeping every player involved in the action. Every card is unique and has only one symbol in common with any other in the deck.

As the game is based on reactions and visual perception, rather than knowledge or strategy, there is no advantage for adults over children, making it the perfect family game.

Why We Love It:

This is our “Sunday” game, that we play when we are all together and we love it. It is so simple, with a mixture of 5 different games to play, keeping you playing for hours. It’s a game of speed, observation and reflexes.

Our favourite game at the moment is “hot potato” but in all honestly they are all fantastic quick little games. I love the pace, it’s a quick, hilariously funny if not a little frustrating too and totally interactive so younger players will easily be able to join in.

I love how the whole game and instructions come in a cute little tin, so storage is easy, and it’s the perfect game for taking camping, On holiday or to Grandmas for some special family fun!
