Located in the heart of York, The Bar Convent Guest House is only a 15-minute minute walk from the city center and just over 984 feet from York Railway Station. The Grade I listed building offers an exhibition on the history of the site, a garden and free WiFi. All of our rooms have private bathrooms and also enjoy the use of our newly renovated guest kitchen and sitting area. Breakfast is served in the on-site café, where guests may enjoy a well-stocked continental buffet breakfast including fresh fruit, pastries, toast and cereals or upgrade to our award-winning full English breakfast. Breakfast is served until 10:00 on a weekend, and until 9.30 from Monday to Friday. Many historic sites can be visited within York’s city center, such as York Minister - one of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe. Clifford’s Tower, York Dungeon and the National Railway Museum are also on offer.

Please note, this property is unable to accommodate stag and hen parties or similar groups. Please note that our Superior Single Rooms are on a floor accessed by a narrow staircase and there is no elevator service.
As part our conservation program to maintain the high standards of our historic house, external painting and minor repairs work will be taking place at various times between Monday 4th March – Friday 30th August 2024. This is expected to have no impact on your enjoyment of the Center whatsoever, however out of courtesy we wanted to let you know that sections of scaffolding may be seen outside of the house in the garden and over the atrium area to enable access for the team, who will be working between the hours of 9am – 5pm weekdays during.
