Oil Filled Radiator Deals & Today’s Bestsellers

What is an oil filled radiator and how do you they work?

Unlike how it sounds, an oil filled radiator does not involved burning oil.

Rather electricity flows towards the heater resistor which in turn converts the energy to heat.

This heat is then absorbed by the oil within the heater.

As it warms up, the heat from the oil flows out towards the fins and columns of the radiator.

This heat transfer then makes its way into the room and moves through the air via natural convection currents.

What are the advantages of an old filled radiator?

Less Noise

Most hot or cooling devices make a bit of a noise.

This is because they usually work by using a fan of some sort to move air across a room.

However, oil filled radiators do not use a fan and operate via natural convection currents.

Air Humidity

You may be familiar with your radiators sucking out the air in a room, leaving it very dry and sometimes not very pleasant.

It can actually lead to promoting the spread of infections.

The process by which oil filled radiators work means they keep the airflow stable and do not unduly affect the humidity like other heating sources.

Improved Heat Retention

Standard dry heaters get cold quickly.

Oil radiators are extremely good at retaining their heat.

Once it reaches the temperature you set on your thermostat the oil radiator will turn off but the heat will continue for some time.

This makes these types of radiators an excellent choice for larger rooms.

Energy Efficient

Oil filled radiators can help reduce your energy bills because they consume less energy than other types of heating technologies.

Electricity is used to heat the oil, it is then the oil that is used to heat the room.

With other appliances electricity is used on a more or less continuous basis to keep the room heated.

Safety

Standard radiators can get extremely hot.

So much so that a child can touch it and get badly burnt.

Oil fired radiators do still get hot but not the same degree.

Most oil filled radiators come with key safety features – these include overheating protection, auto-thermo switch off and an auto tip-over switch.

Portable and Fixed

Oil filled radiators can be viewed as a solution whether you are looking for a backup temporary heater for emergencies, or an efficient heating system you can rely on every day.

Most come with a 24-hour function so they can be set to fit your lifestyle.

You can also consider wall mounted oil filled radiators and these can work particularly well in bathrooms.

Important Considerations

Power

You want to get the balance of a radiator that is not overkill for your intended room but also one that can heat (and maintain) it efficiently.

Each oil filled radiator will give you information on how big a space it can operate optimally at.

The more powerful radiators operate at a heat output range between 1500-2500W.

Size

Large heaters will require more power to run over small ones – so it’s obviously advisable to get one whose size is well suited the room.

Smaller heaters tend to be more efficient as their size allows them to harness more advanced features.

Safety Features

You want to be getting as many safety features as suits your situation.

Auto shut-off is essential in the case of extreme temperatures.

Freestanding heaters can have a tendency to be knocked over, particularly if you have children or pets running loose.

You want to ensure you are getting a tip-over switch.

Control

Timer control and heat settings let you maintain a safe and efficient heating setup whilst also maintaining a level of comfort.

The more you pay will lead to you having more granular control over settings.

For some, this may be overkill.

But anything that will help you save energy is an advantage.

For example, features like thermostat, remote control, timer, ability to program, and many others.

I hope this list of the best oil filled radiators sets was helpful.
