What is the difference between gas and electric patio heaters?

Gas patio heater are more expensive to run than electric options and they can also take longer to heat up.

However, once warm they do usually provide a good heat range, so they are great for bigger spaces.

Gas patio heaters may also look more appealing if you are entertaining guests.

Why use an outdoor gas patio heater?

Gas patio heaters will have a larger carbon footprint than electric ones, but minimising use to social gatherings is a good way to cut down on use.

Some homes have natural gas lines, so a patio heater powered by natural gas is ideal. Alternatively for a more portable solution, a butane/ propane powered patio heater can be a great choice.

A gas heater is going to give off more heat and look more impressive than an electric patio heater of the same price.

A lot of gas patio heaters use piezo ignition which makes it easy to switch your heater on and off.

Also bear in mind you will need to purchase the gas bottle for your patio heater separately.
